Terms & Conditions

For the purposes of these booking conditions, "Past Endeavours" is abbreviated to PE. "Tour" refers to conducted personal tours unless otherwise stated. The term "You" refers to the person making the booking and who has signed the form where indicated. "Party" means those persons listed on the booking form ( or attachement ) on behalf of whom you are making the booking.

How to book

Please use the booking form provided on the website in the first instance, or, if simply making an enquiry, e-mail on, or call 01842 862014. This will enable me to draw up an estimate based on your requirements. This can be discussed, and if satisfied, I will submit a firm and binding price. Please contact PE to discuss ANY aspect of the tours offered. When decided, please submit a completed booking form. Telephone reservations will be held for seven working days pending receipt of a completed booking form. No contract shall exist between you and PE until the signed booking form has been received and the booking is confirmed by PE in writing, either by e-mail or post.


A 20% deposit is payable on booking. Payment can be made by cash, or by cheque. Cash should only be sent by recorded delivery. Cheques should be made payable to: "Past Endeavours ". This ensures that your money is safe and cannot be accessed until the tour is sucessfully completed. This is for your protection in the event that PE fails to satisfy its contractual obligation. The outstanding balance is payable not less than 60 days prior to the tour commencing ( unless you have booked less than 60 days before the start of the tour ) in which case the entire amount is payable immediately on booking.


In the unlikely event that PE has to cancel a tour for whatever reason,  including a tour being undersubscribed ( not applicable to bespoke private tours ), you will be informed as soon as practicable. You will be given the choice of accepting an alternative tour date. If that is not acceptable then a full refund of monies already paid will be made. Should it be necessary for either you or a member of your party to have to cancel a booking, then the person who made the booking must notify PE in writing. The cancellation will be effective from the date the wrtitten communication is received by PE.

The following scale of cancellation charges shall apply ( relative to the date of tour departure ):

More than 60 days before departure - No fee

60-45 days before departure - 30% of tour price

44-30 days before departure - 50% of tour price

29-14 days before departure - 75% of tour price

less than 14 days before departure - 100% of tour price,

where tour price is the total cost quoted for the tour.

Force Majeure

PE accepts full responsibility for ensuring that the services it contracts to provide are to a reasonable standard. sunject to the provisions of "force majeure". This provision means that PE does not accept liability for any damage, loss or additional expense suffered by you or any member of your group as a result of causes beyond the control of PE, such as War, riot, accident, civil strife, industrial dispute(s), crime, natural or nuclear disaster, disease, acts of God, adverse weather conditions or similar occurences. PE will, however, do its utmost to minimise additional expenses in the unlikely event of such occurences.

Travel Insurance

Clients must be insured for travel to the appropriate country of the tour, especially in respect of medical cover, as a condition of travelling with PE. This is not included in the tour price as it is appreciated you may well have such insurance, or may wish to make your own insurance arrangements to obtain the best rates.

Passports and visas

Travellers must be in possession of a valid full passport and any visas(s) they may require to enter any and all of the countries to be visited. This is the traveller's responsibility, but PE will be happy to assist on request.

Tour party size

Unless otherwise stated or agreed, tour parties will be limited to six persons ( excluding myself ).


As parties are deliberately kept small we are able to use a people carrier. larger parties will use either a mini-bus or small luxury coach depending on numbers. Smoking is not permitted in any of the vehicles. P{lease excercise great care when accessing/exiting any vehicle. Seat belts should be worn at all times. Unless otherwise agreed, the meeting point for all tours is Maidstone Services, Junction 8 M20 eastbound. Clients living in the Essex/Kent area can often be picked up from home. Please ask when booking. Channel crossings will be either by Ferry or Eurotunnel. For some tours it will be necessary for clients to book and pay for their own air tickets, on co-ordination by PE. This is reflected in the tour price.


PE uses hotels ( and Guest Houses for tours on the Somme and Ypres battlefields ) situated on or very close to the battlefields rather than the larger, more impersonal hotels used by other tour operators ( although these are, of course, available on request). The hotels are one and two-star family-owned establishments offering basic accommodation with most rooms having en-suite facilities and colour tv. 

Meals on tour

All tours are all-inclusive. The meals provided will normally be lunch and evening meal on day one, breakfast, lunch & evening meal on all subsequent full days, and breakfast and lunch on the last day.
