When one thinks of Normandy one inevitably thinks about the 6th June - D-Day. I can arrange your tour to cover the weeks following the 6th, encompassing the various operations designed to allow the allied forces to breakout from the beachheads and make their way inland as exampled by:
* The failure to take Caen
* Operation Epsom
* Operation Goodwood
* Tilly & Villers Bocage
The church in Verson, once used as "Panzer"
Meyer's HQ & observation post
You can follow the action inland and walk the infamous Hill 112 above the Odon valley, visiting en route the sites of action involving desperate attacks and even more desperate and tenacious defence by the SS. Visit the village of Eterville and see the remains of the defence line where the Germans had anti-tank guns sited to cover the approaches to the village. Follow the attacks up the hill towards the summit of Hill 112
Memorial on the summit of Hill 112
Because of the endless possibilities, every tour of the breakout can be built to cover your particular interest, and it is possible, in most case, to follow the footsteps of individuals and certainly units. I can however, put together a generic tour to cover the highlights which can be run sucessfully as an adjunct to a D-Day tour. Just ask !
